Armajaro expands with natural resources hedge fund launch

Armajaro Asset Management is expanding its range of hedge funds with
the launch of a novel natural resources strategy that aims to capture
macro trends through positions in commodity-related equities.
The Armajaro Natural Resoruces Fund will invest in a diversified range
of natural resources companies, spanning metals, energy and
agriculture. The strategy emphasises prevalent macro themes such as
inflationary pressures, volatility in commodity and food prices and
the growth in commodity-producing emerging markets. However,
investment ideas will be expressed through equities rather than
commodity futures.

Armajaro has hired Nick Glinsman to manage the fund. He previously ran
a natural resources trading strategy independently and was also an
external portfolio manager for Brevan Howard for a time. Glinsman was
also previously at Saloman Brothers where he headed futures and
options trading before leaving the bank in the late 1990s.

James Whitehead has also joined Armajaro as a dedicated risk manager
for the fund. He was previously at Brevan Howard.
Armajaro currently manages around $1.8 billion across four commodity
hedge funds and an emerging markets fund.

The flagship Armajaro Commodities Fund invests across all major
commodity sectors, while the CC+ Fund specialises in cocoa and coffee
and the CZAR+ Fund invests in sugar, biofuels and biofuel feedstock.
The STS Commodities Fund, launched early last year, employs a trend
following approach to trade commodity futures.

The Armajaro Emerging Markets Fund invests in emerging market
equities, derivatives and fixed income with a macro focus.
The Armajaro Natural Resources Fund is the company's sixth hedge fund.
The launch is part of Armajaro's strategy to expand beyond its core
commodities focus into related areas, including equities.
The fund is expected to launch on February 1, 2011.
